New Mexico Concealed Permit Certification Application Procedures

Upon successful course completion, the certification entitles you to apply for a Concealed Handgun License from the State of New Mexico Department of Public Safety. 

INITIAL APPLICATIONS:

Civilian
• $100 fee collected for application by CCU. Plus a

• $59 fee paid to IDEMIA for fingerprints – Service Code: 2BH245

Military/Veteran/LE
• No application fees.
• $23 fee paid to IDEMIA for initial fingerprints – Service Code: 2BH25N

Any applicant using the Military/Law Enforcement Service Code must provide proof of service to the department. No refunds will be given for applicants using the wrong Service Code and this may cause delays in processing.

RENEWAL:

Civilian
• $75 collected by renewal application by CCU.
• $59 fee paid to IDEMIA for fingerprints – Service Code: 2BH245

Military/Veteran/LE
• No application fees.
• $23 fee paid to IDEMIA for initial fingerprints – Service Code: 2BH25N

Any applicant using the Military/Law Enforcement ORI must provide proof of service to the department. No refunds will be given for applicants using the wrong ORI and this may cause delays in processing.

As of May 22, 2025 NM DPS CCW Unit can not store fingerprints in house. This means that FINGERPRINTS must be done again when renewing your NM Concealed Carry License.

The state of New Mexico is 100% digital Background Check/Fingerprinting. You will need to register on the IDEMIA website and get your fingerprints done prior to turning in your paperwork to the state.

Fingerprint Instructions as of 10/16/2025

Select “start enrollment”

o  Privacy act statement

o  Enter applicant information

o  Schedule an appointment (Do not select to mail in fingerprint cards)

o  Enter zip code and select fingerprint location

o  Review info and continue to pay screen

o  Print or record receipt for use at scheduled appointment

o  Fingerprint location will provide a TCN Number after you are fingerprinted
